Earth's 85 richest individuals have the same combined wealth as half of the world.

Today, Oxfam International released a report, "Working for the Few," which revealed that the world's 3.5 billion poorest individuals have the same combined wealth as the world's 85 richest. That means 0.00000001 percent of the world's population owns the same wealth as 50 percent of the world's population. According to the report, that hasn't always been the case. In just the past year, 210 people have become billionaires.

The report's authors expressed concern in the growing economic divide amongst human beings. Seven out of 10 countries have seen an increase in economic inequality in the past 30 years.

The report found that in the United States, the wealth gap is growing even more dramatically. Since 2009, 95 percent of the economic recovery and growth was within the wealthiest 1 percent. The poorest 90 percent of Americans became even poorer.

Who are these 85 wealthiest individuals? Each year Forbes releases "The World's Billionaires List." The top ten include Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico, Amancio Ortega of Spain, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Larry Ellison, both Koch brothers, Li Ka-shing of Hong Kong, Liliane Bettencourt of France and Bernard Arnault of France.
