After only two months of availability, Amazon has dropped the price of their first smartphone, the Fire Phone, to 99 cents. The new phone's cost includes a two-year contract, a year membership to Amazon Prime and other cloud services.

The original price of the phone was $199.

According to The Verge, the reasoning behind the price cut is unknown. However, some believe the sales performance of the Fire Phone is low in comparison to other smartphones.

Amazon’s announcement comes a day before Apple’s big event where they will reveal the iPhone 6.
