Get ready Philly, UberPool could be coming
Despite their ungoing troubles with the PPA, Uber has plans to announce their interest in launching UberPool to Philadelphia this week.
Uber is not letting their issues with the Philadelphia Parking Authority slow them down. This week, the popular ride-sharing company is considering bringing UberPool to Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The new feature will allow customers who use Uber to share trips with other riders who might be traveling in the same direction.
UberPool originally started two years ago. It launched a beta version with Google and since then has become available in countries and cities around the world, from Washington, D.C. and San Francisco to Paris and India.
“The idea is simple. With UberPool, you share a ride and split the cost with another person who just happens to be requesting a ride along a similar route,” Uber said in a blog post. “The beauty, though, is that you still get Uber style on demand convenience and reliability: just push the button like before and get a car in five minutes. When we find a match, we notify you or your co-rider’s first name.”
Though they plan on making an announcement this week, it’s unclear when and when the UberPool option will become available on the app.
