The Philadelphia Science Festival (PSF) returns for its fifth year with nine days of science celebrations galore.

From April 24 - May 2, science lovers of all ages can participate in lectures, hands-on activities and special exhibitions at different venues around the city including museums, libraries, restaurants, outdoor spaces, etc.

“The Philadelphia Science Festival aims to provide opportunities for all Philadelphians to positively engage with and build a community around science, engineering, and technology by showcasing the role that each plays in the city and region,” PSF’s website stated.

On the first night of the festival (April 24), more than 25 sites like universities, community centers, cemeteries and wildlife refuges will offer “Astronomy Night” for guests who want to stargaze. For adults, the PSF Kick-Off Party will take place the same night at The Franklin Institute. The party’s theme is classic video games and will offer the science behind games like Oregon Trail, Frogger, and Dr. Mario and other activities.

On April 25, numerous outdoor science activities will be held for “Discovery Day.” From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., participates can exercise their muscles and brain in Chestnut Hill, meet local scientists and STEM students in Clark Park, create fizzy rockets in Hunting Park, celebrate Earth Day at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education and attend a slimy Mess Fest at Smith Memorial Playground.

PSF’s main event, Science Carnival, will take place on May 2. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Ben Franklin Parkway will feature more than 150 exhibitors that will offer games, family-friendly experiments, live entertainment, food and more.

Other events for the Philadelphia Science Festival include Robot Build Day on April 26, Fishtown Science Crawl on April 26, You’re the Expert on May 1 and much more.
