The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) announced a new rental payment option for all of its residents.

Through Rezzcard, residents pay their PHA balance in cash, credit or debit card, or electronic check online, by phone, or at convenient payment centers located throughout the city.

This system also offers a free mobile app available for any PHA resident with a smartphone to download. Residents will be able to check their balances, get notifications, view payment history, make a payment and find their nearest payment location.

“PHA is eager to give our residents more convenient options for paying their rent on time,” said PHA President and CEO Kelvin A. Jeremiah. “Rezzcard is a great alternative when they cannot make it to the management offices during business hours. With reductions in federal funding, it’s critical for PHA to increase rent collection efforts. Those payments support maintenance and upkeep of the properties residents call home.”

In the past, PHA residents mailed their checks or money orders, or brought them to the management office in person. This option is still available to residents.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Englewood, N.J., Rezzcard is the first financial services platform designed exclusively for affordable housing.

PHA “scattered sites” residents began using Rezzcard this past summer as part of a pilot program. Since July 1, nearly 30 percent of scattered sites rental payments, or $1,575,000, has been processed through Rezzcard.

Payment cards were mailed to residents, along with a list of more than 200 payment locations in the Philadelphia area. According to PHA, Rezzcards are secure and do not contain value or confidential, personal information.

Residents can also start paying their rent online at www.rezzcard.com or by phone at 1-800-342-7374 Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
