African American and Latino parents will come together once again to celebrate the 7th annual Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente All Star Softball Game, as part of the Father's Day Rally Committee (FDRC) 26th anniversary. The group marks more than two decades of promoting a positive image for men of color, unity and peace in the Philadelphia region.

Starting in 1989 with its first citywide rallies, FDRC was created to promote positive action among individuals and a more aggressive hands-on action toward resolving a range of problems confronting African Americans communities in Philly and the Delaware Valley, and committed to reducing violence in the minority communities.

For the last couple of years they have been joined by the Latino Back to Basics Movement (B2B) to support all young men in North Philadelphia — a call for Latino men to step-up and make a difference in their communities. For more than 10 years the movement has hosted street cleanings, mentorship programs at local Philadelphia schools, and also established a City Wide Handball Tournament lead by Wally Amaro.

This year’s effort is being led by SAPFA, the Spanish American Professional Firefighters Association, created for Latino members to support each other against the everyday struggles that confronted them within an undiversified organization.

Both groups will join for their the softball game, which showcases Philadelphia’s best players from the African-American and Latino community, on Saturday, June 20 at Belmont Plateau, Field 7, starting at 10 a.m., and organized by Jonathan Reid from FDRC and Joe Santiago from Back to Basics.

It will be followed by the FDRC Father’s Day picnic on Sunday June 21, 2015, where community leaders from across Philadelphia will meet at 10 a.ms at Belmont Picnic Grove, Belmont Mansion Drive and Chamounix Drive.
