Some Philly streets are going to get more colorful this summer.

Philly Pride Presents, a gay pride organization in the city, and the City of Philadelphia are partnering to paint permanent rainbow-colored crosswalks in the Gayborhood.

The eight crosswalks located at 12th and Locust and 13th and Locust streets, will be painted after the city’s Pride Parade and will honor the 50th anniversary of the first group demonstrations for U.S. LGBT-rights.

“We know that other cities have installed rainbow crosswalks and we have been trying to do the same in Philadelphia for a long time,” Franny Price, executive director of Philly Pride, told the Philadelphia Gay News.

Other cities that already have rainbow crosswalks include San Francisco, West Hollywood, Austin, London, Toronto and Vancouver. Philadelphia’s rainbow crosswalks will most likely resemble Toronto’s.
