Dilworth Park to offer sports and fitness activities in spring
With the warmer weather making its way into the city, outdoor activities will become more available. One place that is ready to dive into spring is Dilworth Park.
The park, which opened in summer 2014 has been become a multi-use public space with water fountains and green areas in the summer and fall, and the Rothman Ice Rink in the winter.
This spring, the park will host various free sports and fitness activities until April 30. The programs will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays at noon and 6 P.M.
The Tuesday and Thursday noon programs will mainly consist of “Lunch & Learn” programs, which are free informative sessions on various topics such as nutrition, weight loss, diabetes prevention. For four of those sessions, doctors from the Rothman Institute will discuss treatment options for arthritis, as well as other important orthopedic injury prevention tips and topics.
The Wednesday noon programs will offer yoga from Philly Power Yoga & Thrive Pilates, Optimal Sport Health Clubs, and Sporting Club at the Bellevue.
In the evenings, the programs will vary from discussions with specialists from the Rothman Institute to Zumba, bootcamp and jiu-jitsu workouts.
Dilworth Park will also offer access to paid organized sports leagues such as Major League Bocce and Soccer Shots. Both require pre-registration and a participation fee.
