Butterflies have been around for at least 56 million years. With thousands of species and their stunning array of colors, each one has its own unique beauty. Twenty five years ago the Philadelphia Insectarium started actually as an exterminating business with a small display of insects in their front window.

This growth in popularity made a window display into a full fledged museum. This week, the insectarium opened a new addition to the museum called the Butterfly Pavillion. The several thousand square foot addition takes you into a tropical-like forest where butterflies roam freely.

AL DIA News had the opportunity to a sneak peek of this new addition and experience The Butterfly Effect.
