Prospanica Philadelphia, the local chapter of the national Hispanic professional advocacy organization, in partnership with the Young Caribbean Professional Network (YCPN), is holding a career expo at the Howard Gittis Student Center at Temple University.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Prospanica has always sought to help empower and enable Hispanic professionals to achieve their full educational, economic, and social potential.

The Philadelphia chapter, one of the 40 local chapters in the country, offers various resources to benefit its members, including résumé clinics, career coaching and professional development sessions.

The career expo will allow attendees to meet and engage with a number of distinguished speakers, recruiters and leaders from all over the city.

“It’s a full day of opportunities to support your career no matter where you are,” Prospanica Philadelphia President Natily Santos said.

It will be open to students and young professionals, but inclusive to everyone.

Some of the partners that will be featured at the expo include: City of Philadelphia, Comcast, Lincoln Financial Group, Nationwide, Philadelphia Phillies, PNC Financial Services, Temple University Career Center and Vanguard.

Three confirmed speakers who will be in attendance are:

  • Cassandra Moore, CEO & Founder of The Moore You Know (TMYK) Group
  • Yashira “Yaya” Rivera, Blogger & Founder of M0ntage.com
  • Greg Payton, Vice President & Employee Business Resource Group Manager at PNC Financial Services Group

Prospanica Philadelphia bills this career expo as “not your ordinary job fair” as it features only 16 partners.

“We want to make our [career expo] unique because it is a more intimate setting,” Santos said. “We don’t want there to be any intimidation or people to feel rushed. We want to create a big space to feel comfortable and connect with everyone, and engage in meaningful connections.”

While the expo’s overarching purpose will be advancing careers, it will also provide an opportunity to embrace diversity and ethnicity. There will be entertainers and performers at the expo, as well.

“We want to create a space to celebrate our ethnicity,” Santos said.

The expo will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
