Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market was ranked among the top 20 food halls in the United States by retail research firm Cushman & Wakefield. Food markets have become a fast growing sector in the U.S. restaurant industry and are changing the patrons of local retail and tourism. "It is the second-oldest major food hall on our list in terms of having been continually operated as a food hall," said Garrick Brown, vicepresident of Crushman & Wakefield. Reading Market began in 1680 as a cluster of informal food stalls around Front street and has become an iconic destination, bringing more than 6 million visitors annually. As reported in The Philadelphia Business Journal.
