Zombie town for sale
The name of Grantville may not sound familiar to you. But if you are a The Walking Dead fan you would recognize its downtown for sure. It was featured in the third season of famous AMC’s show.
The zombie town’s price? $680,000.
A group of nine buildings — which include retail areas, loft apartments, pizza restaurants, bar, office space and pharmacy — is being sold on Ebay by its owner, former mayor Jim Sells. Around 34,000 square feet of it was used as a film location for movies and The Walking Dead. It is allso one of the stops on The Walking Dead fan tour, because today, tourism is what sustains Grantville's economy, its former mayor assured.
“I’d like to see it active and thriving, and to be a positive part of the community,” Sells told Buzzfeed. “As far as what needs to be done, I’m hoping someone with a vision will tell me.”
The great interest of potential buyers has motivated an update. Selld has added to the auction two more buildings. With this new offer the buyer would own 90 percent of downtown Grantville. More than 6,000 square feet for $940,000. However, the initial $680,000 offer is still available.
Making this investment profitable will not be a problem. According to the listing, three movies, a sequel of The Ring among them, have already signed on to use the area as a filming location.
