If you ever find yourself with some free time, check out Pennsylvania’s Falcon Cam. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently launched a redesigned website that features a live high-definition feed that streams year-round.

If the live feed isn't enough for you, you can also follow PA FalconChatter on Flickr, Instagram and Twitter. The DEP even has falcon valentine you can retweet just in time for Valentine's Day.

The feed monitors a 13-year-old peregrine falcon which nests on the 15th floor of the Rachel Carson State office building in Harrisburg. He’s lived there for the past 11 years. According to the DEP, this is actually quite a long time for a falcon his age so there is a possibility that a younger falcon might challenge him for the nest.

The monitored nest is actually considered one of the most active in the state. Since 2000, 58 eggs have hatched at this site.

“This nest site in Harrisburg is one of the most productive ones in the state and its success is due in large part to our online community,” said DEP secretary John Quigley. “We thank our wonderful volunteers who look out for the young falcons when they’re learning to fly, and our online viewers around the globe who keep tabs on their every move!”

There are resources available for teachers as well, but any amateur bird watcher is welcome. Tune in now.
