Smart contact lenses to help visually impaired
Scientists in Switzerland are developing contact lenses that will magnify vision for the visually impaired.
The smart contact lenses will have a reflective telescope in it that will bounce light off of the built-in mirrors, causing the person’s vision to magnify. Switching between regular sight and the magnification will be as simple as winking.
Scientists hope the lens will improve sight for people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). That disease is one of the most common causes of vision loss.
