In a new survey conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP), 30 percent of Republican primary voters said they support bombing Agrabah, a fictional Middle Eastern country from the 1992 Disney movie "Aladdin." Only 13 percent of GOP voters said they opposed bombing Aladdin's hometown, while the overwhelming majority said they were "not sure." In another poll, 19 percent of Democrats also said they'd support the action.

30% of Republican primary voters nationally say they support bombing Agrabah. Agrabah is the country from Aladdin. #NotTheOnion

PPP has a reputation for slipping cheeky questions into its national surveys. Agrabah was mentioned in question 38 of the 41 question poll. The bulk of the questions dealt with attitudes toward real-life Republican presidential candidates. Others dealt with positions on controversial issues that have been brought up recently on the campaign trail. For example, do you support or oppose creating a database of all Muslims in the U.S.? Do you think the religion of Islam should be legal or illegal? The question prior to the one about Agrabah asked voters their position on Japanese interment camps during World War II.

Later, PPP noted that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is "at 45% with Republicans who want to bomb Aladdin and only 22% with ones who don't want to bomb Aladdin."

There was an immediate response on the Twittersphere, and PPP didn't shy away from engaging some of the criticism. One person who goes by the name Ellen Carmichael called the poll a "trick" targeting Republicans. Tom Jensen, PPP's director who manages the Twitter account, came back:

30% of Republicans want to bomb a country from a Disney movie and it's PPP's fault https://t.co/CdYZar3jAs

The poll itself was posted shortly after the initial tweets. PPP then revealed that a similar poll asked the Agrabah question to

We asked the Agrabah question to Dem primary voters too. They oppose bombing 'it' 36/19, while GOP supports bombing 'it' 30/13

— PublicPolicyPolling (@ppppolls) December 18, 2015" target="_blank">Democratic primary voters. While the opposition was far higher (36 percent), a number of Dem voters (19 percent) said they'd support military intervention in Agrabah.

The margin of error was not given for either poll. However, similar polls conducted by the organization hover around a plus-or-minus four percent margin of error. Due to the limiting nature of PPP's answer choices (support, oppose or "don't know"), there's no way of knowing the full spectrum of response to the question.

Update, Dec. 18, 12:15 p.m.: The headline of this article has been changed to better reflect the poll's findings. The article has also been updated to add context.
