Due to online backlash, Facebook has removed the “feeling fat” emoji as a status update option for the social networks’ users.

The controversial emoji, which depicted chubby cheeks and a double chin, was one of 50 “feelings” available to users to include in their status updates.

Endangered Bodies, a group of activists who promote positive body image, created an online petition asking Facebook to remove the emoji because “fat is not a feeling,” that it normalizes body shaming and that it can be harmful to those with eating disorders. The petition received more than 16,000 signatures.

“We’ve heard from our community that listing ‘feeling fat’ as an option for status updates could reinforce negative body image, particularly for people struggling with eating disorders. So we’re going to remove ‘feeling fat’ from the list of options. We’ll continue to listen to feedback as we think about ways to help people express themselves on Facebook,” the social network said in a statement.

The emoji has since been replaced with “feeling stuffed.”
