First phase of Copa America 2016 tickets goes live next week
Everyday brings us closer and closer to what might be the biggest soccer event to take place in the U.S. since the ‘94 World Cup, the Copa America Centenario. Today’s news: Venue passes will go on sale Feb. 3 at noon.
Last month, it was announced that Lincoln Financial Field will be one of the venues for the tournament taking place this June across the country. The Copa America Centenario will celebrate the 100th anniversary of CONMEBOL, the organization which governs soccer in South America, as well as that of the Copa America tournament itself.
Tickets for the tournament will be sold in phases. The first phase will make venue passes available for purchase. With these passes, you’ll be able to attend all three games that will be played at the Linc. Buying a pass during the first phase of sales will also enter you into a lottery for first dibs on tickets for the final on June 26 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Games at the Linc will be played on June 9, 11 and 14. The U.S. Men’s Soccer Team has already been drawn to play on the June 11 game.
Also announced earlier this month, the official draw for the tournament will be Feb. 21. This is when the teams will be placed in groups and we’ll know who else will be hitting the pitch in Philly.
The tournament will feature all ten teams from South America and 6 teams from North America and the Caribbean including the U.S. and Mexico.
