Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes of Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel are invaluable displays of innovation and artistry. Now, one is not required to visit Rome to see the chapel’s artwork for themselves.

It comes through a new display, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibition — an exhibition that “showcases the awe and wonder of arguably one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements” — and will bring Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes to Philly later this month.

The exhibition will open to Philadelphia audiences on Friday, Jan. 21 within the city’s Fashion District.

The exhibition allows visitors to experience the artwork up-close in a display similar to the original housed in Italy.

Michelangelo’s artwork has been reproduced in a format allowing face-to-face viewing, and over 30 reproductions will be on display.

The exhibition has been making its way through a tour, bringing Michelangelo’s vision to prolific cities such as New York, London, Vancouver, and now Philadelphia.

Presented by the SEE© Global Entertainment family, a schedule of the exhibition’s full tour can be found on its site.

The Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibition was designed to provide a museum-quality experience.

“This exhibition gives visitors a chance to engage with Rome’s most iconic treasures in ways that were never possible,” said Martin Biallas, SEE© Global Entertainment CEO, and producer of the exhibit.

Perceiving the original display in Italy as somewhat weakened by long-lines and rushed viewing time, Biallas produced the exhibition after visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome.

“This exhibit at Fashion District Philadelphia allows everyone an opportunity to see the amazing art at their pace and up-close, at an affordable price, and enjoy an inspiring and unforgettable experience,” he said.

Guests can participate in the exhibition with the assistance of an audio guide providing narratives in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, and German.

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibition will be available in Philly for a select period beginning on Jan. 21.

Tickets will be sold from Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Ticket prices start at $19 for adults, $13.30 for youth, and a discount for seniors, students, and members of the military. Family bundles are available too.

Those interested can purchase tickets and book their spots now at the exhibition’s website.
