NASA says we’ll find alien life in 2025, but it won’t be what you think
Discovering life outside the limits of planet Earth is one of the greatest aspirations of the space industry in recent years. This week, however, various NASA researchers for the first time have dared to set a specific date, one that is also not far off.
"I believe we will have strong signs of life beyond Earth within a decade and think that we will have conclusive evidence in 20 to 30 years”, Ellen Stofan, chief scientist of NASA ensured, in a conversation regarding the presence of water in the universe. According to Stofan, NASA “knows where to look” and “how to look”. “In the majority of cases, we already have the technology and are in the process of implementing it. That is why I believe we are definitely on the right track”, she said. For Jeffery Newark, interim heliophysics director at the American aerospace agency, the question about finding alien life is not a matter of if it will happen, but of when it will happen.
Will NASA find life on Planet Ceres?
This, however, does not mean that in 2025 NASA will find a planet in which four-foot tall civilized beings holding a basketball game or any other sport game will be living. No, it’s about something much smaller. “We are not talking about little green men”, Stofan commented. It is rather about “small microbes”. Today, the US Agency is focused on revealing the existence of oceans outside the Earth, since where there is water, there is potentially also life.
Currently there is numerous proof of the existence of water in the Solar System and it is believed that the atmospheres of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune could contain large amounts of hydrogen and oxygen, two of the most common elements and the core in living organisms. Through these Infographics, NASA had already made it own bet regarding which would be the best candidate to find life in the Solar System: Ceres. The planet consisting of 25% frozen water, which allows one to believe that at least a part of it could remain in a liquid state and who knows if it could also contain the first signs of alien life.
