The 26.2 mile race, which will take place Nov. 22, just opened registration April 1. The fee through April 15 is $100. From April 16 to April 30 it will be $110, and $120 throughout May.
The race will start and finish at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Fairmount Park, the Schuylkill River, the historic district, neighborhoods like University City or Manayunk and the Philadelphia Art Museum will be some of the landmarks and attractions the runner will enjoy during the race.
A weekend of activities
The Philadelphia Marathon is more than just a race. The organization has turned it into a weekend event that will start Nov. 20 and will also include a half marathon option; an 8K and the Kids Fun Run, a short distance non-competitive event for kids ages 6-12. Also, during the weekend the Pennsylvania Convention Center will host a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo. Also, some Philadelphia restaurants will offer carb-loaded dining options for the runners.
