How Rosalía became a nail art icon
Rosalía's nail art has become part of the singer's trademark. Meet some of the artists who joined her along the way.
Rosalía's nails have become a personal seal, they are bright, fun and daring. The artist has been looking for manicurists throughout her career, depending on the city she was in. Some of them she has contacted them through Instagram and they have become her favorites and allies in the way of showing her personality through them..
The artist of "Divine Nails," Maritza Garcia, was the one who planted the seed of nail art in Rosalía when only singers like Becky G or Nicky Mina used them — before Rosalia's career took off.
The singer had found the Peruvian nail artist and wrote to her via Instagram.
"I'm starting in music, shall we do a collaboration? You do my nails and I'll take you out on Instagram," was the first message.
For Mad Cool, Rosalía found another artist via Instagram. Ecuadorian artist Verónica Marcalla does the manicure of celebrities like Blanca Suárez or Úrsula Corberó.
"When Rosalía told me if I could do her nails she sent me a picture of what she wanted. I didn't have what she was looking for, the things we used in the design are not for nails, they were earrings, we took off the back and glued them on," says Verónica.
As soon as she started spending more time in the United States, Rosalía decided to expand her manicurist agenda. In New York, she goes to "Nails By Juan," by Juan Alvear, a nail artist who looks for curves and volumes in his esthetics. He was in charge of putting roses and golden thorns on Rosalía's nails in the Aute Couture video.
The famous nail artist, Mei Kawajiri, was also contacted by Rosalía and was in charge of putting appliqués inspired by her song "Yo x ti tú x mí."
"She likes bright colors, shiny things and, definitely, rhinestones," said the artist about the Spanish singer.
She is also responsible for the singer wearing shorter nails without appliques, exploring chromatic finishes such as watercolor.
The Catalan diva never ceases to amaze, also showing her creativity and style in her hands.
