The song "América Vibra" is a new collaboration between Alexandro Carlo, vocalist of the Brazilian group Natiruts, Ziggy Marley, and Oscar-nominated Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio. The song was released on the same day as President Joe Biden's inauguration, almost as if it were a slogan for the Biden-Harris era and a new chapter in American democracy.

The lyrics created by Carlo are still as relevant as when he wrote them, and with all that has happened in the last year, the song's message resonates with everyone.

"The idea [for the song] came in 2019, before the pandemic," Carlo told The Associated Press in an interview from his home-studio in Brasilia.

He explained that the original idea for the song was to include it in a DVD that Natiruts recorded in Buenos Aires after a tour to some Latin American countries. But the coronavirus crisis changed the plans, and the singer decided to go ahead with the project.

The purpose of the song has not changed and is still about the union of the Americas.

The song talks about understanding what is happening to the environment and the need to see more justice in the world, emphasizing that everyone has the power to contribute our grain of sand, take care of the planet, and take care of each other to build a better world.

The track is sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and for it to have the impact and representation they were looking for, Carlo was clear that it needed the participation of a woman.

"The identity with the Indians, the identity with her country, with the problems, with the people, with the people... Yalitza made the song grow because of her person, because of her representation of Latin America," he said.

"We don't want walls, we are bridges. We don't want hunger, we are life. We don't want weapons, we are peace. We don't want hate, we are love," sings Aparicio in the song.

The timing of the message couldn't be better. All three artists are recognized for their talent and for their political activism in defense of the environment, ethnic minorities, justice, and equality.
