Those without 2016 health insurance coverage have until Tuesday Dec. 15  to enroll or re-enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace for coverage to begin on Jan. 1, 2016.

Additionally, any consumers who enrolled in an insurance plan under the marketplace in 2015 must update their information or select a different plan to ensure tax credits or subsidies remain active. Most people must have health coverage or pay a fee. If you don’t have coverage in 2016, you’ll pay a penalty of either 2.5 percent of your income, or $695 per adult ($347.50 per child under 18) — whichever is higher.

"The Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC) are able to provide free, personal, no pressure, no obligation, enrollment assistance to individuals seeking the security of health insurance coverage," stated PACHC. "Federally certified health center-based enrollment assistants—certified application counselors and navigators—are trained and ready to help individuals to navigate the enrollment process, including plan options and cost."

According to PACHC, their health center and its statewide membership of community-based healthcare organizations, provided assistance to more than 20,000 individuals seeking the security of health insurance coverage during the last enrollment period.

To find a Community Health Center near you, to schedule an appointment with an enrollment assistant, or to get access to primary care services, visit pachc.org or call the PACHC hotline at 1-866-944-CARE (1-866-944-2273). Individuals can learn more about the insurance marketplace by visiting www.healthcare.gov.
