A local organization is helping to raise funds for young Caribbean athletes.

The Young Caribbean Professional Network has been organizing Philadelphia’s Caribbean Cuisine Week since 2004. The group partners with different restaurants to be a part of their own restaurant week. Each participating restaurant donates a percentage of the proceeds to help a high school athletes from the Caribbean get to the Penn Relays, the largest track and field meet in the country.

The proceeds cover various things like meals, transportation, lodging, and more.

Starting today until April 10, twelve Philadelphia restaurants will be participating in Caribbean Cuisine Week. Some restaurants that are participating are known to primarily serve Caribbean food, while others are making dishes specifically for the week.

For a list of participating restaurants, visit the event website.
