Facebook is following suit after Google, LinkedIn and Yahoo in releasing employee reports that reflect the lack of diversity in the tech industry

On Wednesday, Facebook opened its books to show how few women and people of color work in tech and non-tech areas. The numbers reflect a trend in Silicon Valley and the technology industry across the United States.

Facebook's overall workforce lacks gender diversity to begin with — two out of three workers in the company are men. In tech areas, just as in Google, the percentage of female workers is even lower — 85 percent of tech workers at Facebook are male while 15 percent are female.

When it comes to ethnicity, the percentages are similar across the four tech companies, where there are few Latino or Black workers in tech and non-tech areas that are dominated by white and Asian workers.
