La Coalición de Inmigración y Ciudadanía de Pensilvania (PICC) honró a los líderes de inmigración más destacados a nivel local, regional y nacional durante la edición 2015 del evento “Inmigrantes hacen fuerte a Pensilvania”.

La celebración incluyó una actuación musical por parte de West Philly Orchestra, así como una piñata de Donald Trump, la cual fue quebrada por los invitados por una buena causa.

Los honrados de este año son Cesar Vargas, primer inmigrante indocumentado en entrar a la Barra de Abogados de Nueva York, Helen Cunningham, antigua presidente de la fundación Samuel S. Fels Fund, y Jorge Perez Rico, inmigrante activista en Pensilvania.

One of these happened last week in a packed soccer stadium in Madrid, when 7-year-old Zied Abdel-Mohsen Alghadab walked onto the field hand-in-hand with soccer mega star Cristiano Ronaldo to open a Real Madrid home match.

The elephant in the room is immigration, and each country in Europe is up against a different part of the problem, while intentionally, obtusely, pretending to not see how the parts fit together. The United States too faces hard choices over the reception and treatment of immigrants. And Pope Francis has emerged as a central figure in this world debate.

Trump’s plan isn’t a great political document or even a mediocre one. What it is, is a confidence game and those folks who believe they can follow the Donald’s three-card monte and come out on top are going to lose everything from their money to their self-respect before it’s over.

Caminata en la ruta 66 para pedir servicios trasplante a indocumentados

Activistas, religiosos y enfermos renales que necesitan diálisis y trasplantes en Illinois caminarán la próxima semana hasta Springfield, capital del estado, para exigir al gobernador Bruce Rauner que no elimine los fondos estatales que permiten tratamientos médicos gratuitos a indocumentados.

Según señaló hoy el pastor José Landaverde, uno de los abanderados de la lucha por la atención de indocumentados sin seguro médico, Rauner estaría considerando eliminar estos beneficios como parte de sus planes para equilibrar el déficit de presupuesto.

Despite the scorching summer heat, about thirty immigration activists gathered Wednesday at LOVE Park to speak out against a bill that would limit federal aid to 22 sanctuary cities across the U.S. Under the bill, which just passed in Congress, Philadelphia stands to lose $5 to $6 million in annual aid if it continues Mayor Michael Nutter’s limited cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
