With so many immigrants now serving in the military, USCIS has been
bombarded with questions regarding their pending immigration
applications, including applications for naturalization and petitions
to remove the conditional basis of resident status.

For those of you who received the May 29th notice cancelling your
license unless you were able to verify, to the satisfaction of Penn
DOT, the veracity of your social security number by June 19, 2009,
there’s been a momentary reprieve: Penn DOT has temporarily cancelled
their cancellation notices in order to work on a new letter and set of
guidelines that more clearly establish who is legally permitted to
drive in the Commonwealth. Such new guidelines will better mirror the
USCIS guidelines as to who is legally in the U.S. and thus who is
permitted to legally drive in our state.

Last week we discussed PennDOT’s recent recall of licenses from drivers
who did not possess valid social security numbers and the June 19th
deadline to turn them in or otherwise be prosecuted.

Over the past two weeks, thousands of people have received an Official Notice from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of
Transportation, Bureau of Driver Licensing.

Despite the concern that the 65,000 H-1B numbers for the fiscal year
starting October 1, 2009 would be gobbled up as quickly as the turkey
at Thanksgiving dinner, believe it or not there are still some of these
much-sought after nonimmigrant visas available for fiscal year October
1, 2009.

In pre-Hispanic Mexico, before the Spanish Conquest of 1521, masks were
used by priests to channel the power of their pagan gods.

Some of what is being said about the possible swine flu pandemic that
seems to have originated in Mexico demonstrates that ignorance is
infectious.
