The tough defeat at Brazilian soil, 3-0, frightened many soccer fans that questioned Argentina’s chances to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup. Anyhow, Leo Messi put things back on track with an amazing performance on Tuesday during his country’s win over Colombia by the same score, 3-0. 

Do not even think in betting against Argentina playing at the 2018 World Cup!

La dura derrota sufrida en tierras brasileñas, 3-0, disparó las alarmas de gran parte de la prensa mundial, que comenzó a cuestionar hasta las posibilidades de Argentina para clasificarse a la Copa del Mundo de Rusia 2018. Sin embargo, Leo Messi se encargó el martes de poner las cosas en su sitio, liderando a su selección a una contundente victoria sobre Colombia por el mismo marcador, 3-0.  

No lo duden, ¡Argentina jugará el Mundial 2018 en Rusia!

The Goal For Unity

The quarterfinals of the 2016 Philadelphia Unity Cup took place on the LaSalle University campus in Northwest Philadelphia. One group of combatants on the pitch were that of a prized fight while the other group could have been a “David vs. Goliath” type of battle.

 The first match began with the United States versus Ukraine. Both teams made their way into the quarterfinals with victories over Spain and Italy respectively in the knockout rounds last week. Throughout the game, each team took turns in finding ways to penetrate through the defenses.

At the 2016 Pennsylvania Conference for Women, hosted at The Pennsylvania Convention Center and produced by Hill + Knowlton strategies, about nine thousand women- and a few men -of all ages and backgrounds came together to foster career connections, personally grow, and learn from inspiring movers and shakers of the city, such as Anita Hill. They also came to laugh (a lot) at the charismatic keynotes from Abby Wambach and Mindy Kaling.

Once upon a time there were two great, effective, outspoken and genius coaches. They were a landmark in sports history not only in Spain but in the whole planet. One of them, from Portugal, shaped his work in Barcelona at the team where the other was a star player. When his playing days were over, the Spaniard became a coach at his beloved FC Barcelona development squad.

 As every season, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi amazed the planet with their beautiful game. But maybe this year, both did not match expectations at the very last moment. It is true that Ronaldo ended up winning the Champions League for Real Madrid and the first ever Eurocup with Portugal, but he performed poorly in the Champions League final and had to leave early the continent’s championship contest injured.

Como cada temporada, Cristiano Ronaldo y Leo Messi maravillaron al planeta practicando el juego bonito. Pero quizá este año, ambos habían defraudado en el último momento. Es cierto que Ronaldo acabó conquistando la Champions League con el Real Madrid y la Eurocopa por primera vez con Portugal, pero Cristiano tuvo una actuación más que discreta en la final de la Champions y se lesionó a inicios del duelo por el campeonato continental, con lo que no fue determinante en ninguno de los dos partidos.

La temporada inaugural de la Copa de la Unidad Internacional de Filadelfia fue una fanfarria para todas las culturas. El día comenzó con una reunión deportiva de los equipos que participaron en el torneo. El aroma que se respiraba desde cada uno de los puestos de comida, así como también los diversos tipos de actividades para niños, daban la sensación de estar en una atmósfera festiva que se observa también en otras actividades de deportes profesionales.

The inaugural season of the Philadelphia International Unity Cup was a fanfare for all cultures. The day began with a tailgate-style gathering of the teams that participated in the tournament. The aroma coming from different food trucks as well as the different types of activities for children gave the feeling of a party-like atmosphere that you would see in other professional sports venues.

Destine had prepared for us a European week that included two thrilling home returns of the coaches who ruled Planet Soccer five years ago. In the other side, in a Premier League match, José Mourinho came back, now as Manchester United’s skipper, to his London house, Chelsea, where he was once known as The Special One

El destino nos deparó una semana europea que incluía dos impactantes retornos a las respectivas casas de los dos entrenadores que fueron la envidia del planeta hace solo cinco años. Por un lado, en la Champions League, Pep Guardiola, ahora como manager del Manchester City, volvía al Camp Nou, el estadio que, como jugador y entrenador del Barcelona, le vio vivir sus mejores días.

El gol por la Unidad

Los cuartos de final de la Copa de la Unión 2016 en la Universidad de Filadelfia, se llevaron a cabo en el campus del Noroeste de la ciudad. Un grupo de jugadores en el campo dieron una ardua contienda, mientras el otro grupo pudo haber desempeñado una batalla del tipo “David contra Goliat”.

World Guinness Record Judge Anna Offord was one of the most followed people by the Spanish sports media last week. Mrs. Offord traveled to Seville to recognize the city’s top soccer team with two World Guinness Records for winning the Europe League five times and also for doing it three times in a row.
