Not many Latino women can say they won a gold medal in their first Olympic Games. But Laurie Hernández, a 16-year-old gymnast born in a Puerto Rican family from New Jersey, did it. Five months after the US team won the gold in Rio Olympic Games Laurie comes out with a book to explain her fans the secret of her success.

Very few thought Sevilla could improve the great achievements of the last years in which the club from Andalusia won three Europe League championships in a row (2014, 2015 and 2016) under head coach Unai Emery, setting a milestone in the history of European soccer. Anyhow and despite many successes, Emery was never able to take Sevilla ahead of the groups’ round in the Champions League and could not get the club amongst the top three in Spain’s La Liga either.

Pocos hubiéramos pensado que el Sevilla todavía podía mejorar después de haber ganado tres veces seguidas (2014, 2015 y 2016) la Europa League, bajo la tutela de Unai Emery, marcando un hito en la historia del fútbol del Viejo Continente. Sin embargo, a pesar de sus muchos aciertos, Emery no pudo rebasar la primera ronda de la Champions League ni consiguió quedar entre los tres primeros equipos de La Liga.

Los Phillies con Sabor!

For the upcoming 2017 season, the Philadelphia Phillies will not only have more new faces but will be a predominantly Latino team.  Last year, the Phillies had 12 players of Latino origin who played throughout the season.

The Opening Day roster could have at least 13 Latinos. That is about 48 percent of the 25-man roster. The percentage of players born outside the United States that are part of the Opening Day roster was 27.5 percent.

Each category of statistics within the Phillies were all led by Latino players:

Batting Average – Cesar Hernandez, Venezuela

El equipo Champecoense ha pasado por una jornada que ningún otro equipo de fútbol podría ni imaginar en sus peores pesadillas. Un vuelo el pasado Noviembre que pudo haber sido la oportunidad para ganar la Copa Sudamericana terminó en la muerte de casi todo el equipo en el área montañosa de Medellín, Colombia a tan sólo algunas millas del aeropuerto.

Champecoense has been through a journey that no other futbol team could even imagine in their worst nightmares.  A flight last November that should have been for an opportunity to win the Copa Sudamericana title ended up with all but three players dying on a mountainous area of Medellin, Colombia just miles from the airport.
