The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its annual Alegría Ball at the Curtis Center by Independence Hall this past weekend. The Alegría Ball is the GPHCC’s signature fundraising event benefiting the Small Business Development and Education programs, which offer workshops, seminars, minority business services, technical assistance, and business development opportunities throughout the year for Latino businesses across the region.

El eco alentador del grito “Sin odio ni temor” podía escucharse a través del estacionamiento y las afueras del terminal Internacional del aeropuerto de Filadelfia el día Domingo por la tarde. Más de 5000 personas se juntaron en una demostración organizada por Reclama Filadelfia, 215 People’s Alliance, El Colectivo Surasiático de Filadelfia, la Voz Judía por la Paz y el HIAS Pennsylvania, en oposición a la prohibición de viaje de los refugiados promulgada por el Presidente Trump.

The echo of cheering as well as "No Hate, No Fear" can be heard throughout the parking garage and outside of the International terminal at Philadelphia international Airport Sunday afternoon. Over 5,000 people joined in the demonstration organized by Reclaim Philadelphia, 215 People's Alliance, Philadelphia South Asian Collective, Jewish Voice for Peace, and HIAS Pennsylvania opposing the travel ban of refugees made by President Trump.

Get into Gear at the Philadelphia Auto Show

The 2017 Philadelphia Auto Show is celebrating its 116th year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It is one of the largest auto shows in the country with an annual attendance of 250,000 people every year and brings en economic boost of at least $50 million to the city.

Los Phillies con Sabor!

For the upcoming 2017 season, the Philadelphia Phillies will not only have more new faces but will be a predominantly Latino team.  Last year, the Phillies had 12 players of Latino origin who played throughout the season.

The Opening Day roster could have at least 13 Latinos. That is about 48 percent of the 25-man roster. The percentage of players born outside the United States that are part of the Opening Day roster was 27.5 percent.

Each category of statistics within the Phillies were all led by Latino players:

Batting Average – Cesar Hernandez, Venezuela
