Patria, Fernando Aramburu’s Novel: neither Victims nor Executioners

Fernando Aramburu is a poet, essayist and novelist born in 1959 in San Sebastian, Spain. To date he has published more than twenty works and has received several important prizes, including the Prize of the Royal Academy and the Mario Vargas Llosa NH Prize in 2008 for his collection of short stories, Los peces de la amargura (The Fish of Bitterness). But his biggest critical and editorial success has been due to his latest novel, Patria (Home Country), chosen as the book of the year by ABC Cultural, now on its ninth printing with over 100,000 copies sold.

En todas partes del mundo, en aldeas, pueblos y ciudades, lo femenino es lo que mantiene unidas a las  comunidades a pesar de que opera fuera de las estructuras económicas y de poder. Lo femenino es lo que sana,  restablece y mantiene la unidad comunitaria cuando ésta se desgarra.
 

¿Cómo integrar en tiempos de guerra y de violencia equipos de reflexión con personas de distintas culturas, razas y religiones? Durante 5 días representantes de 40 países -hombres y mujeres- se reunieron en Jaipur, India, para hacer una reflexión global sobre cómo aplicar los principios femeninos para crear una nueva lista de prioridades que beneficien a la comunidad mundial.
