This week’s bombing in Manchester was another gruesome reminder that the threat from radical Islamic terrorism is ongoing. And President Trump’s journey to the Middle East illustrated yet again how the country central to the spread of this terrorism, Saudi Arabia, has managed to evade and deflect any responsibility for it. In fact, Trump has given Saudi Arabia a free pass and a free hand in the region.

In lower income neighborhoods, students can struggle without access to proper educational materials, exposure, and parental poverty. 

The story of education in lower income neighborhoods is an all too familiar one. The struggle to obtain a stable education is a story of overcoming conditions that are less than favorable, much like the swamp plant. What is causing these students, especially Latinos, to fall behind? How can they grow from these meager and impoverished conditions?

CHICAGO -- Tensions flared during testimony leading up to the final state Senate vote on Texas' sanctuary cities bill -- and not just over whether the new measures would have a chilling effect on commerce or open the door to racial profiling of Latinos. One incident in particular struck at the very heart of fears about immigrant assimilation and the preservation of an "American culture" that shares the English language.
