[OP-ED]: Both Trump and the media love wrestling in the mud

 08/21/2017 - 12:19
There’s no evidence behind the terrible accusation that Trump is in league with white supremacists. When he declared in his Monday remarks from the White House that “racism is evil,” I bought it. EFE

In keeping with the recent meme of recognizing bad behavior “on many sides,” there was something that was painfully obvious during last week’s improv news-conference-like-no-other in the lobby of Trump Tower: President Trump and the media deserve each other. Both are driven by ego and take criticism personally. Both will twist the facts to defend themselves and push their agenda. And both love to wrestle in the mud.

[OP-ED]: Trump hits the debt ceiling

 08/16/2017 - 09:40

The crucial question about raising the federal debt ceiling is: What happens if Congress doesn’t? That is, what happens if Congress defaults? When President Trump returns from his “working vacation” later this month, this promises to be one of the major issues he’ll face, because the Treasury is expected to run out of cash in early or mid-October, according to projections by the Congressional Budget Office.

[OP-ED]: The Art of the Bluff

 08/15/2017 - 15:13
Trump has made clear that the United States would respond to North Korean nuclear threats with a massive military strike, possibly involving nuclear weapons. EFE

How did we get here? Why does it appear that we’re on the brink of a war in Asia, one that could involve nuclear weapons? North Korea has had nuclear-weapons capacity for at least 10 years now. Have its recent advances been so dramatic and significant to force the United States to wage a preventive war? No. The crisis we now find ourselves in has been exaggerated and mishandled by the Trump administration to a degree that is deeply worrying and dangerous.

Cuarto líder empresarial renuncia a Consejo de Trump tras polémica racista

US President Donald Trump makes a statement Monday, Aug 14, 2017, from the White House condemning the Ku Klux Klan, white supremacists and other racist groups, days after the Charlottesville violence, but too late and too lacking in conviction to keep three CEOs of major companies from resigning from the President's Manufacturing Council.

Scott Paul, president of Alliance for American Manufacturing, resigned from the President's Manufacturing Council, joining the CEO's of Intel, Merck and Under Armour, which resigned from the group created by Donald Trump, because of the noncommittal way he responded to the racist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia.
