¿Qué sucederá en Filadelfia este primero de mayo?

Este primero de mayo se espera que cientos de miles de personas se manifiesten en la menos 44 ciudades del país. En Filadelfia, aunque con una historia larga en la lucha proinmigrante, no está claro aún si la jornada será una segunda versión del “Día sin Inmigrantes” o lo que otros han llamado el “Día sin mí”.

Two new Venezuelan Restaurants, “Tartareperia 18.64,” and “Puyero Venezuelan Flavor”, mark the latest addition to the rich Latino cuisine of Philadelphia. They are part of a revolution in the city’s cuisine that traces its roots almost 30 years ago.

Renowned artist and social advocate César Viveros Herrera, primarily known for his groundbreaking mural to honor the Pope during the World Meeting of Families in 2015, is now undertaking another mural that hopes to increase the visibility of the rising Mexican immigrant population in Philadelphia.

A plan to create a Business Improvement District in the Italian Market area, where Mexican businesses revitalized once-abandoned storefronts, has been shelved for now. Mexican business owners, who had little say in the original plan, now have another chance to get organized.
