Al menos cinco personas fueron asesinadas y 13 resultaron heridas tras un tiroteo en el aeropuerto de Fort Lauderdale esta tarde. El sospechoso es Esteban Santiago, de 26 años, quien fue capturado y puesto bajo custodia.

El tiroteo sucedió en el área de recogida de equipaje en el Terminal 2, un poco antes de la 1 PM hora local, como confirmó el aeropuerto.

Cientos de personas se encontraban en la plataforma mientras vehículos de la policía y ambulancias corrían hacia la escena.

Five people killed, in airport shooting

At least five people were killed and 13 injured after a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport this afternoon. The alleged suspect, 26-year old Esteban Santiago was captured and taken into custody.

The shooting happened in the baggage claim area in Terminal 2 a little before 1pm local time, as confirmed by the airport.

Hundreds of people were standing on the tarmac as police vehicles and ambulances rushed to the scene.

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher tweeted: “I’m at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Shots have been fired. Everyone is running.”

The unarmed Latinos killed by police in 2015

Ruben Garcia Villalpando was one of three unarmed Mexican nationals killed by the police in February, 2015. Villalpando did not obey the officer's orders to remain still, and was shot twice in the chest with his hands on his head. Screenshot from the Grapevine, Tex., police dashcam video.

To date, at least 16 of the 105 Latino victims were not carrying a deadly weapon.
