Latinos demand that Texas governor show their community more respect

 Under the  recently approved SB4 law, known as the "show me your papers" law, police can request the immigration status of anyone stopped, for example, because of a traffic violation.

Politicians speak for a living. So they should be especially careful with their words.

When elected officials make inflammatory statements that exploit fears and drive people apart, they need to be called out and told to pipe down.

According to a press release from the governor's office, the law signed would ban sanctuary cities in the state of Texas, and would require both local government and law enforcement to comply with federal immigration laws.
