Mientras el país se complica tras las instrucciones del Presidente Trump de revocar la medida de Obama de permitir a los estudiantes transgénero utilizar los baños de su escogencia, los estudiantes de Filadelfia permanecen tranquilos y confiados.

El Alcalde Kenney y varios oficiales de la ciudad han decidido ayudar a los estudiantes transexuales de Filadelfia a que se sientan seguros y protegidos en sus escuelas.

Mayor Kenney’s administration has confirmed that the Office of LGBT Affairs will get a new face with Amber Hikes appointment.

After two years, Nellie Fitzpatrick has stepped down and confirmed to Philly Voice that she will be returning to law stating, "It was not my decision, but I was very happy to move on," she says.

A local segment of a international movement, the Women's March in Philadephia had women show up in record numbers to protest for rights they feel they will lose under a Trump administration. 

 

Said to be the first march or movement that includes several groups, from LGBTQ rights to #BlackLivesMatter, the march had several speakers, from Mayor Kenney, Councilwoman Sanchez to community activists speak in solidarity for their civil rights.

La administración del Alcalde Kenney ha confirmado que la Oficina de Asuntos LGBT tendrá una nueva cara con la designación de Amber Hikes.

Tras dos años, Nellie Fitzpatrick se ha retirado y ha confirmado a Philly Voice que regresará a la abogacía, declarando que “no fue mi decisión, pero estoy muy contenta de seguir adelante”, dijo.

“Mi período dentro de la oficina ha llegado a su fin natural y estoy emocionada de regresar a la práctica del derecho, que siempre ha sido mi intención y seguir sirviendo a la comunidad LGBT a través de nuevas vías”.

Currently Helen "Nellie" L. Fitzpatrick is the Director of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Affairs. She was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter last December.
