[OP-ED]: America’s internet delusion

 05/22/2017 - 08:51
If there are deficiencies with cybersecurity, we consider them separately. We embrace the “internet of things” without admitting that it’s also the “internet of hazards.”
English

The United States may have escaped most digital damage from the global “ransomware” virus, though cyber experts fear more attacks. One possible explanation is that the malicious software (”malware”) harms older versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system, which most Americans have replaced. Perhaps many users in other countries haven’t. Whatever the explanation, this is not the end of internet threats.

 05/17/2017 - 11:19
Trump’s problems are not only with the public, his own party comrades have also increasingly begun to run away from him, fearful that his unpopularity could be as contagious as the Zika virus --and cost them an election. EFE

C’mon people, give the man some credit. Yes, it’s true that these past few days have been completely chaotic and disastrous for the increasingly confused and erratic Donald Trump. But hey, how many other presidents have squandered their political capital so completely in such a short period of time?

[OP-ED]: Our Education, Born from Swamps

 05/15/2017 - 15:27
In lower income neighborhoods, students can struggle without access to proper educational materials, exposure, and parental poverty.
English

The story of education in lower income neighborhoods is an all too familiar one. The struggle to obtain a stable education is a story of overcoming conditions that are less than favorable, much like the swamp plant. Nobody doubts the skill level of Francisco Alarcón “Isco” since he was selected in 2012 as the Golden Boy: Europe’s top Under 21 soccer player. Despite being born in Benalmádena in Málaga, the finesse midfielder was developed in Valencia’s farm system, but the club let him go back to his native province not wanting to renew his contract in 2011.
