[OP-ED]: Our Education, Born from Swamps

 05/15/2017 - 15:27
In lower income neighborhoods, students can struggle without access to proper educational materials, exposure, and parental poverty.
English

The story of education in lower income neighborhoods is an all too familiar one. The struggle to obtain a stable education is a story of overcoming conditions that are less than favorable, much like the swamp plant. What is causing these students, especially Latinos, to fall behind? How can they grow from these meager and impoverished conditions?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) approved by Obama in 2010, was, despite its failures, his greatest national political achievement which provided health insurance to tens of millions of people and saved as many millions of families who almost fell into bankruptcy because one of their family members were sick.

[OP-ED]: Truth has become useless in Venezuela

 04/25/2017 - 14:25
“Five people have been shot in separate incidents near protests but under unclear circumstances. One of these victims was shot by an alleged opposition supporter from a high-rise building, although the perpetrator’s political affiliation is yet to be confirmed,” Bothroyd Rojas added. “Nine protesters appear to have died as a result of their own actions (at least nine were electrocuted in the recent looting of a bakery).”

The crisis in Venezuela is grave and complicated, which makes the OAS’ Secretary General Luis Almagro’s consuming obsession with Venezuela not only strange and counterproductive, but totally inadmissible.

[OP-ED]: La madre de todos los ‘blufs’

 04/19/2017 - 08:02
