After nearly three decades in prison, condemned by justice for the acts committed during his dictatorship, Manuel Antonio Noriega has died at age 83 of a brain tumor.

First Hispanic woman in space receives highest astronaut honor

Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to travel in space, became a member of the US Astronaut Hall of Fame, an elite group created to pay tribute to US explorers of outer space.

Deadline nears for contestants in Trump’s border wall ‘pageant’

It is the first step in a process that promises to combine three of Trump’s most successful ventures: beauty pageants, reality TV competitions and xenophobia. Proposals include hi-tech ‘virtual wall’ and 1,600km barrier of shipping containers.

The Hispanic immigrant community has played a fundamental role in the growth of the city in the last decade. In the streets it is more and more common to hear conversations held in Spanish. However, it seems that this important trend is not reflected in universities. Why? A general crisis in the study of the humanities would be the answer. AL DÍA News spoke with professors from three of the most prominent universities in the city.
