For those innocent souls who believed Donald Trump’s Cuba policy would not be “too bad” or “all that different” from President Obama’s, the appointment of Philip Goldberg as head of the U.S. embassy in Havana should make them understand that only the worst can be expected from the current White House dweller.

How did we get here? Why does it appear that we’re on the brink of a war in Asia, one that could involve nuclear weapons? North Korea has had nuclear-weapons capacity for at least 10 years now. Have its recent advances been so dramatic and significant to force the United States to wage a preventive war? No. The crisis we now find ourselves in has been exaggerated and mishandled by the Trump administration to a degree that is deeply worrying and dangerous.

At least 80 people were killed and more than 300 others wounded in the car bomb attack Wednesday in a high security zone in Kabul near the presidential palace, where several embassies and government buildings are located, according to the latest official data released by the Afghan Ministry of Public Health.
