In a new effort to reduce immigration in the country, Donald Trump’s government has started confiscating and denying passports to U.S. citizens on the border with Mexico, claiming a "strong hand" against fraudulent documents.

Defensores de los inmigrantes, líderes comunitarios y "soñadores" destacaron hoy el cambio que la Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA) supuso para 800.000 personas y anunciaron marchas mañana para recalcar que "ha funcionado", cuando se cumple su quinto aniversario.

In the context of expansion of organized crime in Mexico, migrants have become easy targets, as they are more visible, easily identifiable as migrants and, in many cases, they walk on a predetermined route. At least 400 immigrants were killed on their way from Central America to the US in 2015.

Terry McAuliffe, gobernador demócrata de Virginia, ha utilizado su posición para perdonar a la inmigrante salvadoreña por haber manejado sin licencia en 2013, con la esperanza de lograr impedir su deportación. Dos días después, el ICE rechazó su apelación.

The data confirms it. Studies show that illegal immigrants commit crimes at lower levels than the native-born. The FBI reports that cities with high numbers of illegal immigrants are among the safest in the country.

 When they criticize laws against hate crimes, conservatives claim we shouldn’t create special classes of victims. 

Well, forget all that. It turns out that they feel differently when they can get political mileage from exploiting the public’s fear of illegal immigrants. Then they’re all in.

An undocumented Mexican woman, considered by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2017, left the church in the United States on Friday where she sought sanctuary three months ago, now that immigration authorities have given her a two-year stay of deportation.
