 As part of an effort to curb prison violence, the leftist government has imposed a militarized administration in roughly half of Venezuela's penal institutions. US Vice President Mike Pence said Monday in Cartagena, Colombia, that Venezuela is a failed state that threatens the security and prosperity of the entire hemisphere.

How absurd has the immigration debate become? This absurd: It is now considered controversial when people simply tell the truth. 

As when the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement explains the cold reality that anyone in the United States without the proper legal documents “should be concerned” about being apprehended and deported.

The regional representative for Central America, Cuba and Mexico of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Ecuadorian Jose Samaniego, said that "year after year" the number of refugees, applicants for asylum and displaced persons "continues to rise because of conflicts, violence and human rights violations."

An anti-Muslim attack in a London mosque on Saturday was followed by a frustrated terrorist attack on Monday in Paris, where an armed man identified as an Islamic extremist was killed after he rammed a card loaded with weapons and explosives in to a police convoy. Increasing Islamist terror and hate crime against Muslims at the same time...  is this exactly what ISIS want?

US Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with the presidents of Guatemala and Honduras and the vice president of El Salvador within the framework of the economic and security conference on Central America being held in Miami. The Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle was created in 2014 by the US, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador due to the wave of US arrivals of undocumented and unaccompanied Central American minors.
