Host of the radio show Marilyn Rodriguez uses the airwaves to reach out to her community. "My mission has been to empower the Latino community throughout the Delaware Valley from celebrities, actors, singers to dealing with the social and economic issues, problem solving and finding employment."

President Donald Trump has signed a total of 7 Executive orders in his first eight days of office, many orders focusing specifically on issues that were the cornerstone of his campaign. Among them, the executive order titled, Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States, specifically tackles is policies on immigration reform and sanctuary cities.

El eco alentador del grito “Sin odio ni temor” podía escucharse a través del estacionamiento y las afueras del terminal Internacional del aeropuerto de Filadelfia el día Domingo por la tarde. The echo of cheering as well as "No Hate, No Fear" can be heard throughout the parking garage and outside of the International terminal at Philadelphia international Airport Sunday afternoon. Over 5,000 people joined in the demonstration organized by Reclaim Philadelphia, 215 People's Alliance, Philadelphia South Asian Collective, Jewish Voice for Peace, and HIAS Pennsylvania opposing the travel ban of refugees made by President Trump.

Mientras el Presidente Trump se dirigía a los Republicanos que asistieron al retiro del Gran Viejo Partido (GOP por sus siglas en inglés) en Filadelfia, varios miles de manifestantes tomaron las calles para expresar su descontento.

Mientras el presidente se enfocaba en tocar temas familiares a los de su campaña, incluyendo el ayudar a los trabajadores Americanos, acabar con la inmigración ilegal y reconstruir la fuerza armada nacional, los manifestantes estaban afuera protestando por todo: desde los derechos migratorios hasta los reproductivos.

Donald Trump's visit to Philadelphia today is expected to spark protests and demonstrations around the city.

One good reason is that the President signed an executive order on Wednesday to strip federal funds from sanctuary cities like Philadelphia. As far as our city maintains its status as a "4th Amendment" or sanctuary city,-in order to protect illegal immigrants-  the executive order will prevent it from getting access to any federal grants, blocked by the Department of Homeland Security.

City Under Siege: Trump Against Sanctuary Cities

For the upcoming 2017 season, the Philadelphia Phillies will not only have more new faces but will be a predominantly Latino team.  Last year, the Phillies had 12 players of Latino origin who played throughout the season.

The Opening Day roster could have at least 13 Latinos. That is about 48 percent of the 25-man roster. The percentage of players born outside the United States that are part of the Opening Day roster was 27.5 percent.

Each category of statistics within the Phillies were all led by Latino players:

Este jueves durante el retiro del Partido Republicano en el Lowes Hotel, el Presidente Donald Trump visitará la Ciudad del Amor Fraternal. Este retiro es una sesión estratégica para sustituir y derogar la Ley de Salud Asequible. También planean discutir la reforma de la legislación del código fiscal.

Con el Presidente en la ciudad, hay varias protestas planificadas. El Centro de la Democracia Popular marchará el jueves desde el Thomas Paine Plaza. Marcharán para protestar la derogación Republicana del Obamacare.

This Thursday during the Republican Party retreat at the Lowes Hotel, President Donald Trump will visit the City of Brotherly Love.  This retreat is a strategy session on how to replace and repeal the Affordable Care Act. They are also planning to discuss tax code reform legislation.

With the president in the city, there are multiple protests planned. The Center for Popular Democracy will march on Thursday beginning at Thomas Paine Plaza. They are marching to protest Republicans repealing Obamacare.

Líderes de la comunidad celebran la liberación de Óscar López Rivera

Con el indulto que otorgara el Presidente Obama a Óscar López Rivera, muchos miembros prominentes e la comunidad han expresado un sentimiento de alivio y alegría frente al anuncio de su clemencia.

Tras haber servido 35 años de una condena de 70 por varios cargos – incluida la conspiración, cargo que es aplicado a personas que han sido acusadas de conspirar para derrocar el gobierno de los Estados Unidos, muchos han expresado su alegría por la liberación de Óscar López Rivera.
