Just three-years after the June 2013 tragedy that left six dead and 13 injured when a demolition disaster crashed tons of bricks into a Salvation Army store, top Philadelphia City Hall officials, relatives of victims and others gathered at the site of that deadly Center City incident to break ground for a memorial honoring those killed and injured.

Among the persons that provided poignant testimonials on positive benefits from DACA during the recent ceremony in Philadelphia’s City Hall commemorating the fifth anniversary of that fair-minded initiative instituted by former President Obama were two persons from countries that few ever connect with the controversy around undocumented immigrants in the United States.

Un nuevo día, un nuevo monumento al polémico Rizzo vandalizado en Filadelfia. Manifestantes de ambos bandos, a favor y en contra de este controvertido y corrosivo ex alcalde y comisario de policía de la ciudad, han sido convocados hoy para protestar frente a su estatua. Una de las manifestaciones tendrá lugar hoy lunes a las 4PM, mientras que la otra, convocada por los seguidores de Rizzo, ha sido denegada por el Ayuntamiento.

Another day, another controversial Rizzo monument vandalized in Philadelphia. Ralliers, both those in favor and those against the notoriously corrosive and prejudiced former police commissioner and Mayor, were set to protest today. One is set to occur at 4PM today, while the other, comprised of Rizzo's devotees, has been shut down by the City.

The future of a statue in the likeness of highly contentious former police commissioner and mayor Frank Rizzo is on the fritz, particularly after this past week’s rallies in Charlottesville, Virginia which began as a protest to keep a memorial to Confederate General Robert E. Lee from being removed.
