Wooden Shoe books: El zapato anarquista de Filadelfia

 03/28/2017 - 12:17

Mónica has loved writing ever since she could hold a pencil in her hand, and has dreamt about the day she would be able to work with a news team since she was a fourth grader. AL DÍA News has been a natural fit, as she has been speaking and writing fluently in both English and in Spanish her whole life, due to being born to proud Cuban-American and Puerto Rican-Raised parents in Miami, FL. When she graduated from Carrollton School of The Sacred Heart in 2013 as a high school senior, she decided to give the North East a chance and has pursued her collegiate studies at Haverford College, where she is a member of The Class of 2017. As an English major and a double minor in Spanish and Psychology, Mónica's topics-of-interest cover a broad spectrum, as is evident in the content and clips she has contributed and produced. However, she is most intrigued by social justice and advocacy for children, human rights, foreign policy, Latin@ culture, and mainstream millennial trends. She hopes to, someday, go to graduate school for Social Work, but she promises to always continue providing a voice for herself and for others through her writing.
