Wilfried "Willie" Rosas (D) was sworn in as Mayor of Dunkirk thus becoming the first Latino mayor in the history of New York State. 

Rosas, a retired New York State Trooper, who served as councilman, plans to work on boosting tourism and creating more jobs in the city. 

"it's a big day for me and my family and the Hispanic community in New York State as I am now the first elected Hispanic Mayor of any city in New York State history," he said.
