Trump will "implode," - Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox
Former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, spoke candidly in an interview with AL DÍA News about his heritage, advice to Mexicans living in the United States, and of course, the wall.
No stranger to controversy, Vicente Fox has continued to defend the country he once represented. The former president, who returned to the spotlight with his frank and adamant statement that Mexico is not going to "pay for that f***ing wall," visited the AL DÍA offices for an exclusive interview.
From talking about his past such as having American roots to his past in the private sector, Fox gave a fuller picture of himself to the audience. But despite the controversy surrounding some of Fox's previous statements, when listening to him speak, one gets a deep sense of a man that is deeply concerned with the global community and refuses to let bureaucrats, old or new influence or harm the people they claim to serve. "I think more and more there will be bridge building," said Fox.
And the theme of connecting others continued, "The world belongs to humanity [...] and nations belong to the citizens," said Fox when answering a question about President Donald Trump's capacity to be President and divisive rhetoric. But despite being outspoken about the wall, Fox's views are more nuanced than you would think, "I respect walls and borders. What I'm against is US citizens paying for a wall that would not work," said Fox.
But despite all the focus on the U.S.-Mexico border, the concern remains about Mexicans currently living and working in the United States. But Fox was clear in stating that he believes that this will all blow over and Trump will "implode" on himself due to his lack of "presidential" characteristics.
But Fox's final advice to Mexicans living in the United States: "Be proud to be Mexican and shout it loud and clear."
