Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is the "liar of the year," according to the independent fact-checking journalism website PolitiFact.
The news organization documented and fact-checked a total of 77 campaign statements by the Republican candidate and determined that 76 percent of them are “Mostly False,” “False” or “Pants on Fire."
His comments about Mexican government sending “the bad ones," his recollection of thousands of people in New Jersey cheering as the World Trade Center came tumbling down, and the denial of his disparaging comments about women at the first Republican debate are just some of the examples.
“To the candidate who says he’s all about winning, PolitiFact designates the many campaign misstatements of Donald Trump as our 2015 Lie of the Year,” reads an article of the announcement by the news organization.
