The House of Representatives passed a bill that partially cuts federal funding to "sanctuary cities," the Business Insider reported on Thursday.

Democrats labeled the legislation “The Donald Trump Act” tying the immigration bill to Trump’s controversial remarks on Mexican immigrants.

“Donald Trump is trying to get to the White House, but it looks like he’s already infiltrated Congress,” said Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-CA) during the House debate over the legislation. “This bill on the floor of this House today has Donald Trump written all over it.”

The bill, formerly known as the "Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act," would “block states and cities from receiving federal law enforcement funding if they have so-called ‘sanctuary city’ practices in place, blocking the enforcement of certain federal immigration laws,” ABC News reported.

The legislation passed in the House with overwhelming Republican support in a 241-179 vote. Six Democrats join the Republican majority.

“We can do all the politicking we want. We can do the so-called ‘Donald Trump Act,’ which simply denies the cities and towns their dollars to hire police officers while attacking immigrant communities,” said Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA), The Hill reported.
