Just under 50 percent of Pennsylvania voters say that Attorney General Kathleen Kane should step down in light of criminal charges facing her.

A new poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University showed that just 27 percent of Pennsylvanians said she should retain her position, with 24 percent undecided.

"U.S. Senators Robert Casey and Pat Toomey and Gov. Tom Wolf all have positive approval ratings," said Tim Malloy, assistant poll director for the university, in reference to Wolf's 45 percent approval rating from the same survey. "Not so for beleaguered Attorney General Kathleen Kane.   Pennsylvania voters say the state's top law enforcement official needs to find another job."

More than half (54 percent) of the same voters said they currently disapproved of the way Kane was handling the job, while just 20 percent approved.

The poll surveyed 1,085 voters statewide from August 7-18.
